ADHD Assessment
ADHD assessments are conducted in line with recognised clinical standards and involve a detailed exploration of attention, activity level, impulsivity, and executive functioning.
The assessment typically includes:
- A detailed developmental and clinical history
- Exploration of current functioning at home and school
- Standardised rating scales where appropriate
- Consideration of alternative or overlapping explanations
The outcome is a clear diagnostic conclusion where possible, or a careful explanation where criteria are not met. A comprehensive written report is provided, including practical recommendations for home and school.
General Psychiatric Assessment
General psychiatric assessments focus on understanding a young person’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and day-to-day functioning.
This may include:
- Anxiety
- Low mood or depression
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- School-related distress
- Behavioural concerns
The assessment explores both current difficulties and developmental context, with attention to contributing factors and maintaining patterns. Feedback includes a clear formulation and recommendations for next steps.
Medication Assessment and Management
Where appropriate, medication may be considered as part of a broader treatment plan.
This includes:
- Careful assessment of whether medication is indicated
- Discussion of potential benefits and side effects
- Structured titration and monitoring
- Regular follow-up reviews
Where medication is stabilised, shared care with the GP may be considered in line with standard guidance.
