Assessment Process
The assessment process is designed to be thorough, structured, and transparent.
- Initial Enquiry: Dr Fenton offers a free 10-minute telephone call to all new patient enquiries. Information is gathered about the concerns and whether an assessment is appropriate.
- Information Gathering (ADHD and ASD only): The patient, parents and school are asked to provide detailed written feedback and complete various questionnaires to inform the assessment process. For ADHD assessments, the patient will also be asked to complete objective testing of symptoms in the form of a QbCheck.
- Clinical Assessment: This includes one or more appointments with the young person and their parents, focusing on developmental history, current presentation, and functional impact. For Autism assessments, appointments consist of an initial parent interview, the 3di, followed by an ADOS assessment with the young person.
- Written Report: A comprehensive report will be sent within 3 weeks of the appointment date and / or the date that all screening information has been returned. This report can be shared with schools, GPs, or other professionals.
